Fall 2026 – Week One Recap

The week of September 14th marked the official start of competitions for the Northwood University esports program. Not only did the official CRL regular season league play commence, but the regular season of the PlayVS College League (PCL) started. 

The varsity Rocket League roster had a fantastic showing this week, even with the 4th man substitution of Andrew “Druee” Prill for Arthur “Drufinho” Miguel, due to Miguel’s attendance at the Rocket League World Finals. One notable highlight match was the roster’s 3-0 win over the current reigning champions, Maryville University. As the season continues to develop, the varsity Rocket League team will be the team to watch.

With the beginning of the PlayVS College League (PCL), three matches were played last week. While not reflected in the scoreline, the varsity Rainbow Six roster created an incredibly close match vs. Cumberland University. The varsity Rocket League and Valorant rosters were able to dominate the competition in swift 3-0 and 2-0 manners, respectively.

The week of 9/21 now marks the start of the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC), and many of the program’s new academy roster will be having their debut.
